What do you have?

I can't be more simple about this: You have gifts the world needs. It could be the money you earn baking cookies and selling them. It could be your time. It could be the clothes in your closet. It could be money you earn babysitting.

Where should you start? With something simple -- your time, maybe, to tutor a kid in reading once a week. Or with your school friends to start collecting clothing or canned foods for people in your community who are living in need. Or cleaning up and fixing up a neighborhood park to make it more playable. Or helping to paint an elderly person's home.

You see where all this is headed, don't you? Giving of yourself doesn't have to cost a dime. Just start. Somewhere. Connect to the Food Bank, or to Senior Services, or an English-language tutoring program.

When you bring your gifts to the world -- when you share what you have, whether it's time, talent or treasure -- it gives back to you far more than you put out. You feel useful. You meet others with good souls. You recognize how much you have.

So, get started. Today. (And when you do, post something here to tell us what you're doing. We'd love to know.)
